About us

The Family Music Class first opened in 2023 in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. Together, Jennie and Marcia Kratz developed an original curriculum to bring joyful music exploration to local families. Marcia had been teaching children's music classes for over 25 years, and Jennie, her daughter, was by her side every step of the way. Combined with Jennie's university degree in Child Development and her 15+ years working in childcare, the two were ready to build their own program that emphasized inclusivity, social-emotional learning, and community. Their original curriculum includes a variety of traditional, original, and popular music with representation from many artists and cultures. 

In 2025, Jennie made the decision to leave the US and build a new life in Ireland. Her first year brought many ups and downs, and through it all, she missed teaching and connecting with families through The Family Music Class. Now settled in Templemore, she can't wait to build a new Music Class community. 

The Family Music Class welcomes the whole family, from the youngest babies to the greatest grandparents, and every family. No matter what your family looks like, you are very welcome.
